Courses MUST be taken in prescribed order. Students who miss a course will be required to extend their time to completion by one (1) academic year.

Most courses have an associated field experience, requiring students to conduct activities with individuals with disabilities, families, programs, or professionals in real world settings; field experiences will generally be completed at the Benedum Collaborative Professional Develoment Schools where students are assigned for BOTH elementary and special education activities.

ALL required courses in the special education major are delivered via face-to-sessions on campus (plus occasional online activities), on each week throughout each academic semester. Any Web activities are conducted entirely online withiin the WVU eCampus learning management system. All classroom and online activities are conducted in English.

Students must earn an average of 80% or better on the required activities designated for each course competency and also achieve a grade of B or better in each course or they may be dropped from the program. A grade of Incomplete will only be approved for emergency situations; all requirements must be completed prior to the end of the next academic semester.
